I started in the restaurant business making $2.30 per hour in 1978 when I was 15 years old. Though I studied Engineering and eventually got a degree in Psychology, I worked in restaurants that entire time. Despite all my other interests and pursuits, I found my home and have built a fabulous career in the Restaurant industry.
I like to ask people what they wanted to do when they were a kid. Very rarely does someone say that they wanted to work in a restaurant. Those of us that have made restaurants our gig simply caught the bug and saw the opportunity when we were working for some great cook, manager, franchisee, or company.
To some people working in restaurants is settling. They think of us as stereotypical hamburger-flippers. Nothing could be further from the truth. Restaurants like Toppers represent incredible opportunities for fired-up, service minded individuals. If you put 4 or 5 years into an “education” at Toppers Pizza, you are likely to find yourself well into a high paying management position, running a multi-million dollar business, with no debt and a bright future of endless opportunities ahead! I know countless brilliant business people, leaders, and managers who got their education in restaurants!
Toppers Pizza is one of the fastest growing pizza companies in the country. Yes, our made-from-scratch pizza is fabulous; yes, our signature cheesy stix are addictive; yes, our truly fast service is noticeable; but the real reason we are kicking the big chains asses is our people!
